Located in an age-old aristocratic house of exquisite neo-gothic design, Locanda Formosa is situated on a canal which verges on the liveliest of areas, Santa Maria Formosa, one of the most characteristic places in Venice. Secluded, despite the large number of tourists, just a stroll from St. Mark’s Square and Rialto Bridge, the hotel has recently opened new rooms on the second floor of the building, in Venetian modern style: parquet, Venetian typical “marmorino”, wooden beam ceilings, and a marvellous view on the canals around the palace.

The buffet breakfast is served in two separate breakfast halls, intimate rooms, the first overlooking the canal crossing next to the hotel, the second on the second floor facing a small terrace. You can find: bread, brioches, cheese, ham or salami, cookies, cereals,yoghurt, orange juice, butter, a variety of preserves, honey, chocolate spreadand also Italian coffee (espresso), American coffee, cappuccino, chocolate, milk and a choice of 3 different teas. Room service is also available on request.
Location Description
This hotel is located in the heart of Venice, just a stroll from St. Mark’s Square and Rialto Bridge, but has a calm, secluded position despite the large number of tourists. With just a few minutes walk you can reach the main landings to avail of frequent public transport which takes you all over the city, as well as the other islands of the lagoon (Torcello, Burano, Murano, Chioggia, Lido, etc.).
Campo Santa Maria Formosa, the location of this hotel in Venice, is one of the liveliest and characteristic areas of the city. The Renaissance style Santa Maria Formosa church, with its baroque bell tower, gets its name from the appearance of The Blessed Virgin in the form of a “formosa” or shapely, beautiful woman.
The same area hosts the prestigious Querini Stampalia Foundation, with its rich and much-used public library and a considerable gallery of three-hundred paintings by artists from Veneto, including G. Bella, Palma il Giovane, Palma il Vecchio, G. Bellini, P. Longhi.
